Steve Morin Faculty Profile Rough Draft Perhaps the thing that sets Steve Morin, PhD, Emeritus Professor in the Department of Medicine at UCSF, apart from others is the fact that he was born on the same street as Emily Dickinson. Then, again it could be Morin’s extensive travel adventures across the globe that set him apart. â€Å"I have been to all five states, all provinces in Canada and over 60 countries,† Morin said. Morin’s destinations each year include three or four new places each year and reoccurring visits to Cape Cod, Rio de Janeiro and Paris. Morin also splits up his time between residences in San Francisco and New York City. However, it is not just a frequently used passport for the Massachusetts native that make him fascinating. One could even argue that these interesting facts are just footnotes to the achievements he has made in HIV prevention research for the world. A thirst for knowledge through scientific research is almost second nature for Morin. â€Å"Scientific research is for the curious and you have to precede significant problem and be committed to respond to that situation, so science is driven by need and it’s also incremental,† Morin said. Born in the city of Amherst, Massachusetts, Morin was surrounded by an influx of academic institutions, which piqued his interest in education.
